Lakme Enrich Satin P168 - Review

Price-Rs.260/-
Update: 20% Off on Nykaa. get it at Rs.208/- here.

I have loads of pinks and fuchsia lippies. I wanted to try a true purple shade. The only shade that came in mind was MAC Heroine. But frankly I saw no point in buying a shade that expensive not knowing whether I’ll actually like it.

Spirits above heard me! Last year, Lakme came out with some new vibrant shades in their Enrich Satin range. Some bright corals, pinks and purples at an amazing price! Without any second thoughts I picked up this shade. And thank god I did, ‘coz it has definitely been one of my favorite lippies since then.

Lakme Enrich Satin P168 - Swatch

It goes on smooth. No tugging with this one. It isn’t overly creamy at the risk of sliding off. But it is moisturizing enough.
The colour payoff is amazing. Opaque colour with 1 swipe. You’ll just need to go over it twice to perfect the application. You can definitely build up the colour if desired. After say 10 mins, it sets into a demi matte finish.

Lakme Enrich Satin P168 - Lip Swatch (in artificial light)

I was majorly surprised at it’s staying power. It stayed on me for 5-6 hours beautifully with minimal eating. With proper meals (read oily), it stays for about 4 hours. As the hours go by, it starts looking more pink and leaves a nice strong stain. I personally like lipsticks which leave a stain.
However the staying power could pertain to this shade specifically since it is quite deep. The lighter shades may not stay that long or leave a stain.

Lakme Enrich Satin P168 - Lip Swatch (After 4 hours)
It smells typically of lakme lipsticks which does not bother me. I rather have fond memories attached with the scent. Takes me back to those times when I’d play with my mom’s lakme lippies.

However these are NOT transfer proof. They do transfer on cups, on my husband and my baby.
But again Lakme does not claim these to be matte/non-transfer lipsticks. They are exactly what they’re called. Satin finish.

I am highly impressed with this one. Especially a shade like this from the drugstore at Rs.260. And good quality too.  This girl couldn’t ask for more!

A very close shade to MAC Heroine I'd say. A creamier texture.

Momster Diary #2 Preggo rants [Talkathon]

Preggo rants|  Not so hunky dory after all.

Being pregnant is a boon; a miracle. It’s the happiest and the most cherished moments in a woman's life... Or not.

Well, to be honest, it’s not all hunky dory for most women. It's supposed to be  "the blessed" 9 months. However, no one warns us about the stress, the pain, the "morning" sickness which lasts all day. No one understands the mood swings. The tension a pregnant woman goes through.

I remember one lazy evening, chatting with my husband, having a good time. Discussing about our future and how our life was to change once our babe was out and about. When, all of a sudden I felt my chest constricting and an extreme emotion welling up, and I burst out crying! I was sooo upset in a span of 20 seconds flat! I was dead sure that I’d be the worst mom ever ‘coz I couldn’t cook! Obviously! Have you ever heard of a mom who can’t cook? A woman who can't  cook? Yea sure. Its her choice to want to or not. But never a mom. A mom ALWAYS knows how to cook! A mom cooks the best meals ever! What was I going to do?? That thought hadn’t even subsided when I remembered I couldn’t drive even! #wailing like a baby #pun intended.

Well to cut it short my poor husband didn’t know what hit him that day.

So all this stress and being physically weak do take a toll on us.
Thankfully I didnot suffer in my first trimester. Only a subtle case of heartburn (acid reflux).
My skin, however, had a mind of its own while I was pregnant. Initially it was perfect!! Although no pregnancy glow (honestly I think the “pregnancy glow” shizz is all a myth) but I definitely had super clear skin.

My happiness was short lived ofcourse. By 4th month my skin went all cray cray. I had rashes and allergies on my face one after the other. My skin was super oily one day, then super dry another day.
By 6-7 months , my hands and feet were swelling  up. And they weren’t a pretty sight trust me. By 8th month, even my footwear refused to fit me.

My palms and feet were super dry and itchy! Talking about itchy, boy, did I have itchy breasts!! #awkward in public

Back aches and cramps. Don’t even get me started! Especially lying down. There was a time when I couldn’t switch sides 'coz it hurt like a beaachh. My husband had to help me up to a sitting position.  But thankfully that lasted for only a week in my 2nd trimester and during the end of the 3rd trimester.

My delivery happened in the 37 th week, so thankfully I didnot have to face the full brunt of the last few weeks.

Pregnancy, sure isn't easy. You'll have thousand things to crib about and then that one ultrasono will make everything worth it. All you ladies who are expecting, just hang on. Try to enjoy every moment even.

Feel every kick. Give in to every craving. Laugh at your own wobble. Flaunt the bump. Bask in how strong and powerful you are. 'Coz woman, it's no less miracle that you have 2 hearts beating inside of you.
Brace yourself to understand what love truly means, when you have that piece of you in your arms, sleeping peacefully.

StudioWest Haul

I was dying to get my hands on some Studio West makeup. For those who don’t know yet, it’s been a few months that Westside launched their makeup line. They also have a bath and body range which was launched a year back.

I have used their body butters and body washes before and I quite liked them. So, I was pretty excited about their makeup line. They have 2 range - Pure Passion (Nudes/Everyday wear) and Maaya (glitter/shimmer).

The face products were at 15% off. Also with 2 face products, I got a makeup remover free.

Flawless Finish Makeup  {Price –Rs.550/-}
My buy –Rs.468/-
 Basically a lightweight foundation. Sadly they only have 4 shades. My shade is 01.
 The 4 shades only cater to the medium ranged skin tones

However I really like the packaging. A tube form with a pump!

Flawless Finish Compact {Price –Rs.495/-}
My buy –Rs.420/-
I got it in the shade 02, to get a more natural finish.
The powder is super milled. Feels quite buttery and soft.  I'm really looking forward to using this.

Pure Passion Makeup Remover {Price- Rs.245/-}

I got this free with the foundation and compact.

Irresistible Lipstick in Hint of Brick  {Price -Rs.295/-}
 These have a creamy finish.

Long Lasting Lipstick in Honey Glaze {Price- Rs.495/-}
The finish of this range is semi-matte.

Cashmere Chubby Lipstick  {Price – Rs.495/-}
These are glossy in finish. Lip balmy texture.

Reviews and swatches on the lipsticks coming up soon...

Eye Liner in Expresso Delight {Price –Rs.295/-}
It is extremely smooth and creamy. Does not tug at the eye. The color payoff in just one swipe is amazing. It is quite long lasting. Really excited about this one.

Vivid Nail Colour in Cotton Candy {Price – Rs.145/-}
It’s a pastel powder pink color. The color is very similar to Maybelline’s color show nail paint in constant candy. Let's hope it turns well on the nails and not as clumpy as color show one. Reasonably priced for the quantity.

Radiance Aloe Vera & Green Apple Body Spray {Price - Rs.195/-; 150ml }
 Has a fresh fruity Green Apple fragrance. I usually don't like fruity scents but somehow this does not smell artificial but very fresh.

Ibiza Power Pour Femme {Price - Rs.995; 100ml }
The first notes are very fruity. A berry bubblegum-y scent. Settles into a warm vanilla note (which i like). This is not my usual preference for scents. I usually like more musky and oriental. And stay away from floral or fruity. But I'm a sucker for vanilla notes. So thought of giving it a try. Plus I loved the bottle. It is so bright and pretty!

Something I want to stress on... Cheers to Indian brands bringing in good quality #SupportIndianMake

Solution to my Skin Issue (Talkathon)

Ok guys, sit back with a cuppa coffee since this is gonna be a long one. I'm in one of those moods today :) I'm gonna call 'em The Talkathon series.

So, to start with, I'd like to first brief you on my skin type. I have extremely sensitive skin. It's super dry in winters and super oily in Summers. I donot have any major acne/pimple scaring on my face. I get the usual pimples now and then especially during my periods. But I get rashes on my cheeks and forehead. These rashes aren't acne or whiteheads. They're like small bumps sometimes red when majorly irritated. Can be itchy.

Now until a few months I just could not figure out the reason for these rashes. I never used too many products before (I only used clean & clear face wash and moisturiser for the longest time ) so I didn’t know what was causing the allergy.

After quite many hit and trials here's my verdict. Pollution, Dry skin, Ph  level.

My skin gets worse when I’m out, more susceptible to pollution and dirt. I ofcourse wash my face with a cleanser once home. Then apply some moisturiser. In winters. During summers, previously I would usually skip the moisturiser since my face would get oily and I believed that the rashes were ‘coz of that.
BUT, I realised washing my face with a facewash cleared the dirt off my face but it also stripped off all the moisture and natural oils. And hence my skin produced more oil in order to counteract the dryness and all the stripping. So once I started using moisturiser regularly, it helped my rashes. A lot. But it didn’t completely go. So, I started wondering what I was doing wrong again. After some personal research (read- googling), I realised my facewash was not only stripping away my natural oils but also increasing the Alkaline level of my skin.

OK, for those of you are a little confused. Our skin has the potential to go Alkaline or Acidic. On a scale of 1-14, 1 being the most acidic and 14 the most alkaline, Our skin needs to have a PH level (Potential Of Hydrogen) of 5.5 to be normal. It needs to be slightly more acidic to fight the bacteria which causes acne, rashes, allergies...blah blah all the bad things ie.
Hence the need to avoid SLS, since they have an alkaline Ph level of almost 10!!

So that’s when I started using Toners and checking the ingredients of the products I was using closely.
They don’t say the CTM routine for nothing. Using a Toner is REALLY important. And that’s what made all the difference to my skin.
 Basically, using mild cleansers, toner, and moisturisers which balances the Ph level should suit and work best for the skin.

You could use toners from The Body Shop; Aloe Toner (great for sensitive skin), Thermal Water or Rose water.
Check out my Skincare routine to know what works best for me in combination.
The most important thing - Be consistent.
The CTM routine needs to be followed everyday twice. Once you wake up in the morning and second when you're done for the day.

This will definitely help, just have a little patience.

2015 FAVOURITES { SKINCARE }

Skintype - Extremely Sensitive. Prone to rashes and allergies. Very oily during summers and very dry during winters. Here's the detailed version. Also check it to know how I cleared my skin.

I'm hoping similar skin types can get some help/reference from my favorites. These are what have really worked for me.

So...Here are a few of my favorite things!

2015 FAVOURITES - SKINCARE

1)      Neutrogena deep clean Facial Cleaser – HG!! Does not strip my face off moisture. Cleanses it thoroughly. Best of all it suits my ultra sensitive skin. Controls my break outs.

  2)     TBS Tea tree face wash-  Summers in Kolkata are horrid. This was a saviour. It feels so fresh and tingly. Cleanses beautifully and does not irritate my skin!

3)      TBS Aloe toner – Game changer. I never realised the importance of toner until this came into my  life. This solely soothed my hyper sensitive skin and rashes. Gem!

4)      TBS Aloe soothing Gel –Again, in combination with the Aloe toner...Amazing. If you have hyper sensitive and irritated skin, you need to try this combo!

5)      Neutrogena Oil free moisturiser (Sensitive Skin) – Basic moisturiser which does its job to the T. Keeps my face moisturised. Gets absorbed in the skin within a minute. Does not make my face oily.

6)      Lotus Herbals 3-in-1 matteDaily Sunblock – Oily skinned people, this is your man! Can also be used as a tinted suncreen. Although this does not really give any coverage. Only slightly evens out the skintone. My staple during Summers.

7)      Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch sunblock(spf 50+) – The best Sunscreen ever! Does not make your skin oily. Feels like a primer.

8)      Neutrogena brightening serum – Used up 2 bottles of this. Again, sensitive skins should try to incorporate a serum in your routine. Helps to soothe the skin a lot. Not a fairness cream, mind you. But this helps to even out my skin tone.

9)      TBS Drop of Youth Bouncy sleeping mask – One product which literally worked on my skin overnight. Expensive, but guys one jar has lasted me 8months and counting. I’m no where near finishing it. Amazing product! Worth all the hype.

10)   Maybelline Baby Lips –Mango pie/Berry – Staples again. These obviously need no explanation.

11)   Boroline – Old and gold. The ONLY thing that cures my dry chapped, bleeding lips. CANNOT live without it.
12)   TBS cocoa body butter – The only thing that worked on my swollen pregnant hands and feet to keep me moisturised.

13)   Bio Oil - Really worked when I had itchy stomach and breasts during pregnancy. Can't say if it prevented stretch marks 'coz I did get some. But I like to believe it could’ve been a lot worse if not for this.
