Makeup Revolution Ultra Professional Blush Palette in Golden Sugar 2 Rose Gold

Ever seen something so beautiful, that you skipped a beat?
Sighed or even gasped out loudly? Me... It happened the first time I saw Taj Mahal. Then, when I saw Hrithik in the song 'Kyun chalti hai pawan...' , when I first saw my super boss in the first company I worked in... The moments started fazing off as I grew older and wiser even. I haven't really had any such exaggerated moments until very recently.

I was looking for a golden highlighter and a pink one. And while searching for those I came across this palette which was named 'ROSE GOLD'. I mean, need I say more? Filsalna to tha hi..!

It's priced Rs.1350/- Buy it here.
I looked up for its swatches and I was already in love. I couldn't buy this any faster.
And open it even faster!! (On receiving it ofcourse.) Trust me, it even made the "Elizabeth Bennet" in me go "Oh My!" and all drama-queen-like.

I couldn't stop staring at it. I couldn't touch it for the longest time...scared that I'd ruin it.

Just look at those colours. I didn't care how the product was, I was already in love.
But yeah, for blog-sake, I shall curb in my smitten self and TRY to give a non-biased review.

Firstly, This palette claims to be a Blush, Contour and Highlighter palette. It ofcourse can be used as eye shadows too.
Just like other Makeup Revolution Palettes, The pigments are extremely soft to feel and a dream to blend in.

What I noticed first was the mirror! Look at the size! Great to travel with. The packaging is very sturdy.
Secondly, this palette will work for all skin tones. Since most of the colours are gold based and warm toned, these are best suited for Indian skin.
For girls with deeper and richer tones who usually struggle to find a good highlighter which actually show up on their cheeks or don't look too harsh, this is a dream come true!

The first four colours are pink/peach/mauve tones. Great blushes and highlighters. These look great on cool tones..

1) A rose pink shade with an almost satin finish. Works great as a blush.
2) An icy peachy pink shade with frosty shimmer. Works well as a highlighter. Will look beautiful on cooler skin tones.
3) A warm toned peachy pink shade. Looks great as a blush cum highlighter. Looks fab on Warm skin tone.
4) A cool toned pink with silver glitter. Works as a blush but eventually the colour fades off leaving silver shimmer. If applied properly and lightly, I like the effect. On wintry days it gives a nice glow.

The right quartet is brown based and amazing for richer and deeper skin tones.

5) Out and out golden highlighter. Looks amazing if applied with a light touch. It's a very yellow gold, hence can look extreme if applied heavily. This requires a very light hand.

6) This is my favourite!!! Not gold but copper! Looks Ah-mah-zing on Indian skin tone. I apply this very lightly as a highlighter. But I love using this as an eyeshadow. It looks gorgeous with ethnic outfits! It looks a bit harsh in the swatch below. But it blends in completely with very slight shimmer. I was scared, this would have chunky glitters but these pigments blends in like a dream.

7) A bronzer shade with slight shimmer. The shimmer does not really show up but gives a sheen if built up while using it as a blush. A great crease or blending eyeshadow shade.

8) A complete matte bronzer shade. A very light for everyday bronzing shade. Works great as an eyeshadow too.

Needless to say, I love this palette!
Makeup revolution houses some amazing powder pigments at reasonable prices and quality that match high end products.

If you are looking for some shimmery Highlighters/ blush/ eye shadows, pick this up without a doubt.
Can't get over the copper shade!! It's Beautiful!!

Maybeline Lash Sensational Mascara

Hey guys!
I don't think I've ever reviewed mascaras before. To update you, I have small asian hooded eyelids with non-existent lashes [I'm not kidding. You'll see the proof in a while.]
Hence I usually look for lengthening mascaras. Those for volume usually clump my lashes and I do NOT like that look!

My favourite Mascara has been Loreal Million lashes for the length it gives and Maybelline's colossal mascara for the volume it gives and yet does not make the lashes clumpy.

Maybelline has launched the Lash Sensational Mascaras recently in India. But it has been out in the market for quite some time now.
My dear husband was sweet enough to get me these from Thailand before it released here.

Price: Rs.500/-

This has 2 variants. Water resistant and Water proof.
I usually opt for water proof ones. I do not wear mascara on a daily basis and thanks to Kolkata Weather, waterproof is what I need.

I had heard such good reviews about this one amongst Youtubers that I just HAD to get my hands on these, especially because it was being compared with Benefit's Roller Lash.

First of all, the wand blew my mind. It has a curved wand. The bristles of which are short at the start and get longer gradually. This makes it super easy to get each and every lash and probably discover some more lashes that you never knew existed!

The bristles are quite spaced out because of which it separates the lashes very well.
The most unique feature about the mascara is that the bottom part of the wand has bristles in shape of a tiny comb. This little comb is sooo amazing for the lower lashes. Also to clear any clumps.

Please excuse the pathetic swatch. But this is to give you an idea, how much of a difference it makes for non-existent lashes like mine. However, 2 coats of this makes my lashes too clumpy and me no likey. I'm almost done with this tube. Initially I thought the formula was too thin and runny. Also it picks up a lot of product. So I'd first swipe off the excess product and then use it and tada!
However I truly fell in love with this mascara after a month when the formula got a tad bit tacky.

The tube is over 5 months now and has started getting dry. [That could be a reason for the clumps in 2 coats *looks sheepishly*]

Nonetheless, I like just one coat of mascara (any mascara). It gives my lashes a very natural look and more importantly make them visible.

The mascara stays on me for atleast 4-5 hours. After that it flakes a bit.
Truly waterproof. It needs a good strong makeup remover to come off. Or in my case baby oil does a damn fine job.

This mascara is definitely worth the money. Thankfully it's decently priced. It has the potential of becoming many's HG mascara!
I already have a back up of this. But to be honest I'd rather just keep this wand and rebuy Loreal Million lashes for length and everyday use (It is water resistant not waterproof) and Maybelline Colossal waterproof for more volume.

It's almost Christmas guys! Do you have any plans?

Love,

Price: Rs.425/-

I have been using the Maybelline Hypersharp liner for over a year. It is, hands down, my favourite liner EVER!!
However it’s almost drying up now. So when Maybelline came up with this new felt tip liner I HAD to get it! It’s already a major hit in the market 'coz of which I was super excited to use this.

Maybelline The Colossal Liner

It has a pretty long felt tip and the liner itself is very light.  This makes the application much easier. You can apply very thin strokes as well as thick as per your whim.
The colour payoff is amazing right from the first stroke. It’s got to be the blackest of  them all.

It takes a while to dry completely. It sets with a glossy finish.
The application is real smooth. It does not tug at my eyes at all. Just one stroke is enough for the color payoff hence you donot have to go over several times.

Maybelline The Colossal Liner - Swatch

Now uptill this stage this liner was a dream ‘about’ to come true.

Half an hour later....
Me standing in front of the mirror, just short of screaming..."I WANT MY MONEY BACK!" well..I did scream it.

My eyes were black. Like I got a "black eye" vala black. Completely smudged. Within 30 MINUTES!!
Yes I do have the worst oily lids ever! (I feel like I repeat that in every post!) But 30 mins!! It claims to stay for 12 effing hours!!
I tried it on again a day later. Brushed on a layer of compact on it. It lasted for about 45 mins.

So disappointed!! If it fares so on my eyes in the winters, I wouldn’t dare get this anywhere near my eyes during summers L

I personally would not recommend this to anyone as per my experience. But if you are dry skinned then you could try this. But be sure to try this on your eyes first (not your hands but eyes) before buying.

HOT/NOT:  NOT!!  Like everything about it BUT the staying  power. That alone is a deal breaker for me. Rather get the Maybelline Hypersharp liner. It costs the same.

Hooded eye lids? SO what?!?

World is a prejudiced place. No matter how modern one becomes or how broad minded. Doesn’t matter which part of the world you stay in. Tall is always considered better. Slim… sexier, Fair… more beautiful.

And this badly placed prejudice affects so many people intentionally/ unintentionally... that it's just sad.
I’ve heard so many of my friends and family complain about having small and/or hooded eyes. How they think it’s their worst feature. How it spoils their entire face and that they can’t do a dime about it.
First of all, small eyes or hooded eyes are nothing to be sad about. It’s just a type of an eye shape that majority chunk of people in the world have.

One needs to accept that before anything else. Make up is not a technique to hide your so-called- imperfections but a way of enhancing your beauty. Bringing out your features in the best possible ways…And to have fun!
However it’s very important to realize that all current trends may NOT work for u.

Yes, we, the hooded eyed ladies, do get restrained a bit while experimenting with the eyes.

If you are still confused whether you do/do not have hooded lids..here goes…
  • You spent an hour perfecting that eye makeup, blending blending blending all those pretty shades. You even got those Cat-eyes done perfectly. When your finally done, you stare at yourself straight at the mirror and realize your eye make up is just not showing, baring a tad bit of the liner. The beautiful gradient of the eye shadow hides beneath that fold of skin.

  •  You are completely lost when someone asks you to find your crease?

  •  You look at the beauty gurus on youtube painting away their eyes like it’s a goddamn canvas. While you look into the mirror and think “Where the hell do I do all that?!? There is no space!”

Yes. Welcome to the club.

So here are a few basic tips that should suit all kinds of hooded eyes.
  1.      Try Tightlining .Will not lie. It shall be an ordeal if it’s the first time for you. But once you get used to it, it makes a huge difference. Tightlining is applying kohl/liner on your UPPER waterline. What it does, is, it darkens the lashline making it more prominent while keeping the lid space.
  2. Concentrate on the lower lash line. Try thin or thick liners. See what suits you. Experiment with colored liners. While keeping your upper lid area clean.
  3. One at a time -If you wanna go dramatic, try not to go too heavy on both upper and lower lines together. Either concentrate on a prominent upper liner keeping the lower line clean or vice versa. Going heavy on both shall make your eyes seem even smaller and might give a goth look. Well that might go well with a few looks. But choose carefully, depending on what you are really going for.
  4. Get an eye lash curler NOW! Curl them and curl them good. Curled lashes ofcourse look flattering and will open up the eyes even more.
  5. Make Mascaras your best friend! Go heavy on the lashes. Make them as fluttery as possible.
  6. Use a Nude liner on the waterline. It will give the illusion of bigger eyes by extending the whites of the eye. A flesh toned liner can make you look fresh and less tired. A quick tip for those tired morning. Many use white colored liners on their waterlines. But I think it looks a bit too stark. A nude looks more natural and dainty like.
  7. Use matte eye shadows. If you wanna go festive try subtle shimmers. Avoid glitter at all cost. The glitter will catch the light which’ll reflect against the hooded eye lids, highlighting the part, making it seem even more hooded. And it’ll make the eyes droop even more. Is it making sense?
  8.  Keep it Simple. Use 1..max 2 colours to just wash over the lids. The more complex the eye shadow (read more gradient of colours), the smaller the eyes will look. The worst part, majority part of it won’t even show.
End of the day, experiment with yourself. Try figuring out what works for you the best. And more importantly love yourself. I'd suggest you look for famous ladies who have your eye shape and try to follow her makeup style.
Some such women with hooded/ small eyes - Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, Taylor Swift, Kirsten Dunst, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lawrence....the list can go on.
